Think about tomorrow

One of the defining characteristics of our organization at farbenmeer is that we make decisions independently. In most cases, this promotes diversity, facilitates engaging discussions, and opens up new perspectives. However, when it comes to decisions about donations, we come together quickly and unanimously: our goal is not only to share our ideas, but also our success.

Pflanze wird gegossen

We are aware that social and political change cannot be brought about by voluntary work alone. As a progressive software agency, we therefore see it as our immediate ethical responsibility to actively help shape a livable digital future, including through financial support.

By participating in the Tupo Academy and giving preference to female developers with equal qualifications, we at farbenmeer want to do our small part to promote a fairer working environment. We also want to be an attractive employer for parents and single parents by offering subsidies for families.

We support female entrepreneurs, organizations, and associations working in the sustainable and social sector with our labor and expertise whenever possible.

Nevertheless, our commitment is often only made possible by financial support, which keeps important organizations and associations alive. We have developed the following procedure for distributing monetary donations:

Every year, we compile a list of organizations that are particularly close to our hearts. Based on annual turnover, each colleague receives the corresponding budget and can distribute their donations as they wish.

Below, we would like to present a selection of this year's organizations and associations:

Amadeu Antonio Stiftung

The goal of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation is to strengthen a democratic civil society that consistently opposes right-wing extremism, racism, and anti-Semitism.

To this end, it supports initiatives and projects that are continuously committed to a democratic culture and advocate for the protection of minorities.

Beyond financial support, the Amadeu Antonio Foundation's most important task is to raise awareness for committed people on the ground and to keep the issue of right-wing extremism permanently on the agenda.

Mozilla

The Mozilla Foundation works to ensure that the Internet remains a public resource that is open and accessible to all of us.

"

[...]an important part of defending our values on the internet

Tobias

Today, the internet is everywhere. It shapes the economy, influences governments, and plays a central role in the lives of billions of people. However, whether the internet promotes democracy, open markets, and free speech, or polarization, mass surveillance, and misinformation, is up to us.

For more than two decades, Mozilla has been investing in bold ideas, world-leading companies, and grassroots campaigns. The Foundation works across borders, disciplines, and technologies to uphold principles such as privacy, inclusion, and decentralization on the Internet. The tactics are diverse, but the vision is unique: a robust movement for the health of the Internet.

Tobias: „Every day, the Mozilla Foundation works with campaigns and free software to ensure that the internet remains a public resource that is open and accessible to all of us. It is thus the antagonist to the powerful data giants and an important part of defending our values on the internet."

Wau-Holland-Stiftung

Humans caught between new media technology and surveillance, between the opportunities and risks of modern data processing: this was at the top of Wau Holland's long list of lecture topics. That is why he developed and expanded concepts such as hacker ethics and saw young people's enjoyment of learning and using computer technology as an opportunity to show them the social dimensions of this technology.

By founding the Chaos Computer Club in 1981, Wau Holland paved the way for “hackers” to become legal and thus socially responsible, and played a decisive role in this process.

SeaWatch e.V.

Sea-Watch was founded at the end of 2014 by a group of volunteers who could no longer stand by and watch people dying in the Mediterranean.

No one should die at the external borders of the European Union while fleeing their home country in the hope of a dignified life.

"

Rescuing people in distress at sea is our humanitarian duty.

Elisa

The European Union is committed to democracy and human rights, but at the same time it is increasingly closing its doors to refugees, whether through border security measures costing billions or through controversial readmission agreements with third countries such as Turkey that raise questions under international law. As a result of this isolation, thousands of people drown every year while trying to reach a safe haven in the EU.

Sea-Watch is attempting to fill the gap left by the lack of an institutionalized, comprehensive sea rescue service with a clear mandate and has so far been involved in rescuing well over 37,000 people.

Elisa: "I wrote my bachelor's thesis on the criminal actions of the European Union at its external borders with regard to Frontex back in 2011. For me, it is inconceivable that we, as an affluent society and co-contributors to poverty, exploitation, and structural inequality, bear no responsibility for our actions and knowingly allow people to die every day at Europe's external borders. Sea rescue is our humanitarian duty."

Hamburger Tafel e.V.

Hamburger Tafel supports people in need by providing them with donated food. The association works closely with social welfare organizations in Hamburg. Hamburger Tafel does not distribute food directly to those in need, but delivers what it collects during its daily rounds of grocery stores, supermarkets, hotels, and other locations to various institutions. There, the food is checked and processed or distributed directly to the visitors of these institutions.

The distribution centers supply 30,000 people in need per week, distributing more than 90 tons of food. A total of over 120 volunteers work at the food bank.

Conny: “I think it's particularly important that everyone deserves to have food to eat, because this is a basic need and no one should be denied it. That's why I donated part of my donation to the Hamburg food bank.”

ISD-Bund e.V.

The ISD represents the interests of Black people in society and politics and aims to influence legislation. The issues of everyday racism, racist violence, and police violence are central focuses of its work. For the association, Black resistance is primarily a struggle for the recognition of these perspectives.

"

[...] we want to be an ally for the “Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland” (Initiative for Black People in Germany), which is committed to a better future without racism and with equal opportunities.

Marcel

The goal is to promote the political participation of Black people and improve their living conditions in Germany. The association calls for an anti-racist stance in all areas of politics (education, residence, citizenship, asylum legislation) and for the reality of different and intertwined forms of discrimination to be recognized. Aware that collective political work is essential, the ISD organizes networking between Black and migrant communities. The ISD thus continues the struggles of the 20th century, which colonial migrants and anti-fascists fought against exploitation, discrimination, and persecution. In this sense, the ISD stands in solidarity with refugees in order to make it clear that flight and migration are a direct consequence of European colonialism.

Marcel: “Through the Tupo Academy, we at farbenmeer have often dealt with the issue of racism and how to combat it, but racism is still a bitter reality that continues to exist outside our bubble, which is why we want to be an ally for the ”Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland“ (Initiative Black People in Germany), which is committed to a better future without racism and with equal opportunities.”

Aktion Friedensdorf e.V.

The aid missions carried out by Aktion Friedensdorf e.V. give injured and sick girls and boys who cannot be treated in their war-torn and crisis-stricken home countries a chance to survive. The association offers help for self-help through projects in the children's home countries. It also aims to raise awareness of peace policy among people in Germany.

The association provides individual assistance for medical care in war and crisis zones. Injuries and illnesses often cannot be treated locally, meaning that people die from injuries that could be healed with medical treatment.

Aktion Friedensdorf e.V. also carries out project work on basic health care locally. This is the only way to improve people's situation in the long term.

Educational work is the third pillar of the association, as simply treating wounds is not enough to achieve lasting peace in the world. We need a generation that is no longer willing to think in the old spirit of hostility.

NABU Hamburg

NABU is the oldest environmental association in Germany and, with more than 820,000 members and supporters, also the largest in terms of membership.

"

[...] so that the world remains a place worth living in for all of us.

Rebecca

he approximately 40,000 volunteers play an enormously important role in NABU's practical nature conservation work throughout Germany. The association is committed to biodiversity and the protection of intact habitats, good air quality, clean water, healthy soils, and the careful use of our finite resources.

NABU volunteers dedicate 2.5 million hours of unpaid work to nature conservation and environmental protection every year. It is only with their tireless help and enthusiasm for nature that NABU is able to carry out thousands of projects between the Baltic Sea and the Alps for the benefit of plants, animals, and their habitats.

Rebecca: "As a resident of this beautiful planet, the protection of nature and its diversity is very close to my heart. As a hobby beekeeper, it is particularly important to me to preserve biodiversity within the scope of my possibilities. To this end, I support NABU with regular donations and also enjoy taking part in guided tours through forests and meadows. This is because the association is actively committed, virtually full-time, to environmental protection and the preservation of biodiversity, so that the world remains a place worth living in for all of us."
